Skillet Fried Green BeansSkillet fried green beans is the only way I tend to cook greens beans anymore. I absolutely love them and so does my family and friends.

There are many skillet fried green bean recipes out there today but, this is actually a southern green bean recipe a friend of mine taught me how to make.  I use it regularly too.

I simply call it skillet fried green beans when I’m referring to it since I primarily cook with cast iron skillets anyway.

For this to be a fried green bean recipe with all the different variations, Since I grow my own green beans each year, I consider this to be in the category of my fresh green bean recipes.

Now I know many people buy frozen green beans a lot from the grocery stores and that’s great too, but I have a different technique for my frozen green bean recipes. There’s not a lot of difference but there is some. Primarily you would want to be taking safety into consideration since frozen foods in a hot skillet splatters really bad at first.

This is a wonderful side dish that goes well with almost anything you would cook a side dish for.

If you’re looking for something new to try and has an absolutely wonderful flavor, this is the one recipe you will want to add to your easy green bean recipes arsenal!

Skillet Fried Green Beans
Cast Iron Skillet Fried Green Beans has become my favorite green bean recipe of all time. Ever since I was first introduced to this recipes, it is the only way I cook them now.

Skillet Fried Green Beans
Instructions
  1. Heat a 12" cast iron skillet over med-hi heat. Remove the bacon and cut pieces into halves. Bacon fries easier when cut in half and does not curl up as bad.
  2. Drain off all the liquid from the green beans.
  3. Fry up all the bacon fairly crisp as we will be crumbling it up into the green beans later.
  4. Once the bacon is fried, remove to a paper towel covered plate. Leave approximately 2-3 tablespoons of bacon grease in the skillet.
  5. Slowly add drained green beans to skillet and let fry(cook down). Do no stir immediately as we will want a little char on the bottom to form before we stir the green beans.
  6. As the beans cook, the remaining moisture will begin to evaporate. Once the beans have a little charr-fried look you can stir them slightly.
  7. Add crumbled up bacon and stir. Cook for a few minutes more to completely combine bacon and green beans.
  8. Add just a dash of salt to taste as bacon is already salty. Pepper to taste. You may want to add some red pepper flakes for a little added kick!
  9. Remove from heat and serve!

  1. Great recipe!! I add fresh garlic and diced onion to mine. I fry the bacon, use some of the grease to sauté the onion and garlic. Then fry the frozen green beans. I sprinkle crumbled bacon over the green beans. It has become a staple dish for every event or family has!!
